You can customise your own e-mail alias (the bit of the e-mail address before
the @ ) to reflect your
own name or your department's name. For example: You could have
joe.bloggs@gtnet.gov.uk instead of
zzz99@gtnet.gov.uk
|
By default, your primary address consists of your account @domain. For example,
if your account name
(username) is zzz99, your default e-mail
address would be
zzz99@domain .
You can use this page to register a "friendly" e-mail alias of your own. Once this e-mail alias has
been registered and activated you must continue to log into the service using your current account
name but you will receive any e-mail sent to either your original e-mail address or your new e-mail
alias.
There are a few restrictions to the e-mail alias you can choose:
You may only use letters, numbers, "-" or "." Upper and lower case letters are the same, so that
"Joe.Smith" is the same as
"joe.smith". Spaces cannot be used (we suggest that you replace any
spaces with full stops) or letters followed by more than one digit.
(There are separate arrangements for companies with registered domain names who wish to collect e-mail
using their account).
You may only have one e-mail alias per mail account, so think carefully about what you want it to be
and then fill in the details below. When you submit the form you will be notified if your requested
alias has been accepted and when it will be activated. GTNet reserves the right to refuse to assign a
particular alias without giving reasons. Otherwise, aliases are allocated on a first-come, first-served
basis.
When entering your username do not enter the letters gtn if they appear
on your account registration card or the @gtnet.gov.uk part of your
existing e-mail address. Please note that you should enter your normal username and not your multiple
mail account name here. Once you have been authenticated you will get the chance to select one of your
multiple mail accounts.
